On the 22nd Jan, 2024 BLC reported: ‘Biggest-ever data breach’: 26 billion records leaked including contacts from X and LinkedIn (source). The breach included a vast amount of data leaked from some of the largest companies in the world.
Private information from several popular sites, including X, Dropbox, and LinkedIn leaked.
Over 280 million Twitter records and over 250 million LinkedIn records leaked in the breach.
Other affected global sites include MyFitnessPal, Canva, MySpace, Adobe, and Deezer.
Data, totalling 12 terabytes, was also found from various previous breaches (with some duplicates).
Researchers emphasise the danger includes potential for a wide range of cyberattacks.
Possible threats include identity theft, phishing schemes, or targeted cyberattacks.
A global cybersecurity advisor, describes it as “absolutely huge” and warns of potential consequences.
LinkedIn is investigating the claims and denies evidence of a breach in its systems.
